Lisa Davenport is the founder and owner of Painted Nest, refinished furniture and home décor inspired by the rustic farmhouse.
Always DIY curious and not afraid of design challenges, Lisa founded the idea for Painted Nest when she started picking up old pieces to refinish for her family’s home. With two small kids, design and furniture budgets were always very small or non-existent so the family of four have needed to turn to creativity rather than the bank account to make their house a home.
With an established career in media, a very fast-paced and ever-changing industry, Lisa finds it easier to appreciate the opportunity to slow down every once and while and admire the natural beauty and inspiration of her surroundings.
It is this Inspiration that hit one night, sitting by the campfire on a family trip. With the humble quiet of the woods around them, and the beauty of the blanketed stars, Lisa and Husband, Wayne, started to talk about the possibility of making a business out of their passion for refinishing older, unwanted pieces and salvaging and upcycling what is sometimes destined for landfill.
The idea for Painted Nest was born but it wasn’t enough to just re-finish and sell rustic-inspired furniture. Lisa wanted to tell the story of these pieces and in turn the story of building and nurturing the beauty and comfort of one’s nest, their home. Painted Nest’s blog is a core element of this business. It allows Lisa to reach out to her readers, customers and community, to share the processes, tips & tricks, mistakes and mishaps, adventures and stories she uncovers in each piece or custom design.
Lisa truly feels that every home tells a story and every nest a canvas painted by its inhabitants, their families and friends, their history, traditions, love and laughter.
